Golf & Country Club Lauswolt

Golf & Country Club Lauswolt in Beetsterzwaag was founded in 1964 as the first golf club in Friesland. Frank Pennink designed the first nine holes, Donald Steel the extension to 18 holes in 1995, and Mackenzie & Ebert updated the course in 2016. It lies mostly in woodland across some 100 hectares, with outlying holes and water along the Koningsdiep stream.

Drentse Golfclub de Gelpenberg

De Gelpenberg in Aalden, founded in 1970, is the oldest golf club in Drenthe. Frank Pennink laid out the first nine in 1972 in rolling country of woodland, heather and a drift sand; Donald Steel extended it to 18 holes in 1992 and Frank Pont led a major renovation in 2011. The drift sand at the 18th is the course's biggest natural bunker, and the course has hosted the Pro Golf Tour for four years.

Golfclub Geijsteren was founded in 1974, with a course laid out by Donald Steel and Frank Pennink. Four new holes in 1983 and five water holes in 1985 made it a full 18-hole course, in wooded surroundings.

Noord-Nederlandse Golf & Country Club

The Noord-Nederlandse Golf & Country Club started out in 1950 on the airfield at Eelde and has played on the De Poll estate in Glimmen since 1954. Sir Guy Campbell designed the first nine; Frank Pennink extended the course to 18 holes in 1984, and Donald Steel refined it further after that. Narrow fairways run past ponds, wooded banks, old trees and rhododendrons, and the 1913 villa serves as the clubhouse.
