Golfclub Geijsteren was founded in 1974, with a course laid out by Donald Steel and Frank Pennink. Four new holes in 1983 and five water holes in 1985 made it a full 18-hole course, in wooded surroundings.
Golf- & Countryclub Geijsteren lies on the Geijsteren estate at the northern tip of Limburg, in wooded country close to the Maas. The club received its royal approval on 13 November 1974.
The course
Donald Steel and Frank Pennink laid out the course, and by January 1975 it was far enough along for the first professional to start. Four new holes were added in 1983 and five water holes in 1985, making Geijsteren a full 18-hole course: par 72 and 6,090 metres from the back tees. The club takes the local flora and fauna into account in everything it does and keeps a record of the species on site, a list that runs to countless birds, butterflies, bats, mammals and trees. The greenkeepers use sustainable equipment and products.
The club
Geijsteren calls itself a typical members' club, balancing competitive and recreational golf. Davey van Mulken has been the teaching professional since 2009, and the junior committee aims to bring young members to handicap 54 within two years. Restaurant OffCourse looks out over several holes, from inside and from the terrace. Visitors are welcome seven days a week, from 11 am at weekends.

De Zuid Limburgse Golf & Country Club Wittem
De Zuid Limburgse in Wittem has, by the club's account, the highest course in the Netherlands. In a Natura 2000 area, a round through the woods gives way to nine holes across open, rolling hills. The first nine were built from 1956 to a design by Hawtree.

Golfbaan Brunssummerheide
Golfbaan Brunssummerheide, at the Golf-Resort Brunssummerheide in Brunssum, has 45 holes, including a 27-hole Championship Course in three loops. Big changes in elevation, conifers and broadleaved trees, water, small fens and tees on higher ground give the course a character the club itself calls un-Dutch. The first 18 holes opened in 1986, the third loop in 1994.
