The Westfriese Golfclub plays at Golfbaan Westwoud, near Hoorn, in the wide, watery West Frisian landscape. Green fee players are welcome every day and can always book a tee time, unless the course is reserved for a competition.
The course
Gerard Jol laid out the first nine holes in 1985, and the second nine followed in 2005. The two halves have clearly different characters: a parkland nine and an open nine with a links feel. Together they make a championship course of par 71 and just over 5,900 metres, testing for players of every level. The terrace of the brasserie looks out over the 18th hole.
Top golf in West Friesland
Westwoud has recently become a host of the Pro Golf Tour, a satellite tour recognised by the European Tour that leads to the Challenge Tour. Together with De Gelpenberg and Stippelberg the club forms the Dutch Swing: three events in three weeks in August, aimed at helping young Dutch talent and new professionals. The driving range has TrackMan, and the golf school is recognised by PGA Holland. A package lets you combine a round with a day out in Hoorn.
