Golfbaan De Texelse lies in the north of Texel, amid wide dunes. Dunes, marram grass, water and big greens shape its 18 holes.
Golfbaan De Texelse lies in the north of Texel, near De Cocksdorp, in the middle of a wide stretch of dunes. It is a public course, so holidaymakers can play without being members, and the club calls it the finest public dune course in the Netherlands.
A true dune course
Alan Rijks designed the 18-hole par 72 course. Its setting in the dunes invites comparisons with English and Scottish links. Dunes, marram grass, water, well-kept fairways and large, true greens set the scene, and depending on the wind direction you can hear the sea. On Texel the wind is the big factor and gives every round a different character. In the winter of 2021 to 2022 the course was extensively rebuilt: the front nine got a makeover and now fit better with the back nine, with plenty of movement in the ground. The new 1st tee sits six metres up.
Practice and packages
The par 3 course was renewed at the same time, with holes of 55 to 103 metres where beginners are welcome too. The PGA professionals of Golfschool Texel teach on site. There are golf packages with accommodation, breakfast and green fees, and taster clinics for groups.
