De Hoge Dijk in south-east Amsterdam has an 18-hole championship course in two loops, Bullewijk and Holendrecht, and a par 3/4 loop, Abcoude. Holes 1 to 9 sit on a hill of city waste, rolling and lined with copses and narrower fairways.
Golfcentrum De Hoge Dijk lies in south-east Amsterdam, on the Abcouderstraatweg, less than fifteen minutes' drive from the city centre. It is a public course, home to Golfclub Olympus, where every golfer is welcome.
Three loops
De Hoge Dijk has 27 holes. The Bullewijk and Holendrecht loops together form the 18-hole championship course, par 71, with A status. One of the two loops is built on a hill of city waste, which gives it a gentle roll; with heavy copses and narrower fairways it is the tougher of the pair. Among its holes is the "prison hole", short but tricky, with a narrow green guarded by a deep bunker and water on the right. The longest par 5 also has the hardest tee shot according to the club, with out of bounds all the way down the right. The third loop, Abcoude, is a testing par 3/4 course. The club claims probably the best greens in and around Amsterdam.
Practice and the clubhouse
The large driving range is fitted with TrackMan, and Golflounge Amsterdam is on site as well. The golf academy can take you through your golf proficiency certificate and runs lessons and masterclasses. After your round there is the brasserie, with a terrace overlooking the course. Tee times can be booked online 28 days ahead.
