Golfbaan Sluispolder in Alkmaar has an 18-hole championship course in the polder and a par 3 course that welcomes golfers without experience. The Noordhollandse Golfclub plays there.
Golfbaan Sluispolder lies on the edge of Alkmaar, out in the polder. The Noordhollandse Golfclub plays there, but everyone is welcome, with or without membership.
The course
The 18-hole championship course lies in open polder country, where weather and wind make every round different. As the club itself puts it, nothing in the Netherlands is as changeable as the weather and the state of a golf course. According to visitors, the quality of the course has improved a lot in recent years, as has the rebuilt driving range. In 2020 the club filmed every hole by drone, with advice on how best to play each one. Tee times run from 6.30 am, or first light, until two and a half hours before sunset.
Par 3 course and clubhouse
Besides the main course there is a par 3 course open to everyone, including golfers with no experience. For the championship course you need handicap 54. The club likes its traditions: men are asked to wear a polo or collared shirt. The restaurant and clubhouse are open from 8.30 am until the last guests leave, with an open fire for colder days, and there are four rooms for meetings.
