The Sallandsche Golfclub 'de Hoek' in Diepenveen opened in 1934 with a 9-hole course by Frank Spalding. In 1990 it was extended to 18 holes, following plans Frank Pennink had drawn up back in 1970. Twelve holes run through the woods and the other six are enclosed by woodland.
The Sallandsche Golfclub 'de Hoek' lies in Diepenveen, north of Deventer, in the wooded patchwork landscape of Salland. It is a members' club with a long history, where visitors are welcome.
History
The club was founded in 1934 by the industrialists Ankersmit and Van der Lande, after a few years of practice on a field near Schalkhaar. A 9-hole course designed by Frank Spalding, the professional at the Twentsche Golfclub, was laid out on part of the land and opened on 8 September 1934. In 1990 it was extended to 18 holes, following plans Frank Pennink had drawn up back in 1970. The club has given a lot to Dutch golf: member Richard Rahusen chaired the Dutch federation from 1975 to 1983 and then the European Golf Association, and Henriëtte Boreel became the federation's first female board member. The national matchplay championship was held here in 2009.
The course
Twelve holes run through the woods, and the other six are enclosed by them. The course plays to par 72 and 6,056 metres. Visitors with a handicap of 36 or lower must book ahead; four-balls are not allowed, and there are only a limited number of visitor slots each day, with set times depending on the day of the week. After your round there is the club restaurant.
