Regthuys Golf in Winkel has an 18-hole course and a 9-hole par 3 course that needs no handicap or course permit.
Regthuys Golf lies near Winkel, in the north of North Holland, against the West Frisian ring dyke. Note when you arrive: you can't drive in through the village of Winkel, because the Limmerschouw is a cycle street.
Two loops with a wink
The 18 holes are made up of two loops, the Tulpenlus (tulip loop) and the Dijklus (dyke loop), each with a striking hole of its own. On the 4th of the Tulpenlus, the Tulip Hole, the green is shaped like a tulip and the fairway like its stem; even the tees are shaped like tulip bulbs. The 7th of the Dijklus is the Ring Dyke Hole: the green takes the shape of the dyke Regthuys sits beside and is ringed by a metre-high bank, so you approach it blind.
Easy to get into
Besides the 18 holes there is a 9-hole par 3 course for less experienced players or anyone who wants to practise; it needs no proficiency certificate or course permit. The TrackMan range has twelve open bays, and you only pay for the balls. If rain or thunder washes out your round, you get a voucher to come back within three months. Camper vans can stay free overnight on the grass of car park P2. Regthuys lends all its buggies to the Stichting Handicart.
