Golfclub Houtrak lies in Halfweg, between Amsterdam and Haarlem, in the Houtrak polder. The club calls itself one of the best-kept secrets in the region.

The course

The 18-hole Championship Course was designed by one of the leading Dutch golf architects. It challenges better players but remains very playable for higher handicaps. The greens are known for their quality, and some are heavily contoured. The layout is clever enough that six holes are visible from the large clubhouse terrace, and the routing runs north to south. After problems with the greens in 2024 and 2025, the course committee keeps a close eye on their condition.

As a visitor

Visitors are welcome with a valid digital Dutch federation card and a handicap of 35 or lower. You phone the caddie master from 8 am three days ahead to book a tee time; visitors cannot book online. If the course closes for fog or frost, early tee times lapse and the caddie master decides when play can resume. The TrackMan driving range is open to visitors, and the Houtrak Golf Academy takes non-members too.
