Golfbaan Brunssummerheide, at the Golf-Resort Brunssummerheide in Brunssum, has 45 holes, including a 27-hole Championship Course in three loops. Big changes in elevation, conifers and broadleaved trees, water, small fens and tees on higher ground give the course a character the club itself calls un-Dutch. The first 18 holes opened in 1986, the third loop in 1994.
Golfbaan Brunssummerheide is part of the Golf-Resort Brunssummerheide, on the edge of the nature reserve of the same name near Brunssum in South Limburg. With 45 holes it is one of the larger golf complexes in the country. The first 18 holes opened in 1986, and the third loop followed in 1994.
An un-Dutch course
At the heart of the complex is the 27-hole Championship Course, split into the Blauw, Geel and Rood loops. Every combination of two loops is par 72. The club stresses that no two holes are alike. There are big changes in elevation, a mix of conifers and broadleaved trees, water and small fens, open stretches and tees set on higher ground. On Blauw 2 a power line crosses the hole; if your ball hits it, you replay the shot without penalty.
For every level
Besides the Championship Course there is the 9-hole Compact Course and a 9-hole par 3 practice course. The resort also has a hotel, so you can make a golf weekend of it. Everyone is welcome, but book a tee time in advance, online, through reception or by email, and report to the caddie master before your round.
