De Hoge Kleij is an 18-hole woodland and heathland course on the Den Treek-Henschoten estate, on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug ridge near Leusden.
De Hoge Kleij lies on the Den Treek-Henschoten estate near Leusden, on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug ridge. It is a welcoming members' club where green fee players are welcome, and the course ranks among the top ten in the Netherlands.
Woods and heather
The 18 holes run through woodland and heath and have a natural feel that changes with the seasons, in colour as well as in how the course plays. On some holes the views are so wide, the club says, that you could be abroad. There are long back tees and strategically placed bunkers, and the edge of the woods is treacherous: balls that go in are often never found. The greens are quick. The club works on sustainable course management and has held GEO certification since 2018.
As a visitor
Members play without tee times. Green fee players are welcome on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and at weekends after 3 pm, and book a time with the caddie master. You need a WHS handicap of 28 or lower. Besides the course there is a driving range, two practice greens and three small practice holes. The clubhouse, Hole 19, is known for its kitchen and its panoramic views over the course.
