De Herkenbosche's 18-hole course stands out for its inland drift sand dunes, conifers and abundant rhododendrons. There is also a par 3 course.
Golfclub De Herkenbosche lies near Herkenbosch in central Limburg, close to the German border. The club itself counts its championship course among the finest in the Netherlands.
Drift sand and rhododendrons
The 18-hole par 72 course lies in woodland and is marked by inland drift sand dunes, conifers and great banks of rhododendrons that colour the course in spring. The sandy ground and the trees give it the feel of a woodland course on dune sand. From the restaurant terrace you look out over four holes.
Par 3 course and practice
The 9-hole par 3 course opened at the start of 2010, and in 2015 golfers on Leading Courses voted it the best par 3 course in the Netherlands. It is tucked away in the woods, with each hole separate and safely apart from the next. You don't need a golf proficiency certificate or membership; a few lessons earn you a course permit, and a permit from another club is accepted too. The Range is a renewed, covered driving range with a bar and shot-tracking technology, open from 7 am to 10 pm. There are also chipping greens, a putting green and a practice bunker, and the professionals teach with SAM PuttLab and Foresight launch monitors.
