Golfclub Bleijenbeek in Afferden has three courses, an 18-hole championship course, a par 3/4 course and a pitch and putt course where beginners can play without a course permit.
Golfclub Bleijenbeek lies near Afferden in the north of Limburg, in the middle of the Maasduinen nature area. During a round you pass the markers of the cycling and walking routes that run through the area.
Three courses
Bleijenbeek has three courses. The main one is the 18-hole championship course, par 73 and 6,370 metres from the back tees, for which you need a golf proficiency certificate (GVB). There is also a par 3/4 course, open to players with a course permit, and a pitch and putt course where beginners can play without one. If you want to prepare for the championship course, reception sells a course guide with every hole; much of the proceeds goes to the Stichting Handicart.
Club and museum
The club describes itself as active and welcoming to newcomers. Beginners play so-called Rabbit competitions, in which an experienced golfer goes round with them and explains the rules and etiquette. The clubhouse was recently refurbished and has a terrace overlooking holes 10 and 18. The estate is also home to a golf museum about the game's origins in the Low Countries, with free entry. Members can play the sister course Welderen and Golfbaan Schloss Haag free of charge by appointment.
