Utrechtse Golfclub Amelisweerd lies on the south-eastern edge of Utrecht, next to the Amelisweerd nature area and along the A27, with the Dom tower in view. Gerard Jol designed the 18-hole course, which is divided into three rooms separated by old hawthorn hedges. Old trees and more than 1,000 newly planted ones, three large water features and well-placed bunkers shape the play.
Amelisweerd is a relatively young club on the south-eastern edge of Utrecht. The course lies next to the nature area of the same name and along the A27, with the Dom tower in view, and is easy to reach via the A27 and A12 motorways.
Three rooms
Gerard Jol designed the 18 holes, an A-status course. He divided it into three parts, which the club calls rooms. Each room has its own character, and old hawthorn hedges separate them. During a round you change rooms six times, which keeps it varied. More than 1,000 trees have been planted alongside the old ones, and three large water features and well-placed bunkers shape the play. The club describes the course as a challenge for beginners and experienced players alike.
Facilities
Next to the main course there is a 9-hole par 3 course, open to players with a course permit from Amelisweerd or Golfbaan Kromme Rijn, or with handicap 54. There is also a driving range, practice facilities, a golf shop and a clubhouse where non-golfers are welcome for a drink and a bite to eat.
