Landgoed Welderen in Elst, in the Betuwe, has an 18-hole championship course with cherry trees, doglegs, plenty of water and even a peninsula. There is also a par 3/4 course and a pitch and putt course.

Golfbaan Landgoed Welderen lies in Elst, in the Betuwe between Arnhem and Nijmegen. The estate is close to the motorway and the city, but on the estate itself, the club says, you notice neither.

The course

The golf architect J. Eschauzier designed the championship course, close to the little river Linge. The 18 holes, par 72 and 6,141 metres, are surprisingly testing: you play past cherry trees, doglegs and plenty of water, and there is even a peninsula. The water makes tactical play essential. Welderen is the sister course of Golfclub Bleijenbeek in Limburg.

More courses and practice

Besides the main course there is a nine-hole par 3/4 course, each hole with its own hazards and suitable for every level, and a pitch and putt course with changes in elevation where the golf school teaches many of its lessons. The covered driving range has 24 Inrange screens, with mats for left- and right-handers, and is floodlit in the evening and in winter. The practice facilities are free; you only pay for the balls. Restaurant Welderen welcomes non-golfers too, and for a golf weekend the estate works with nearby hotels.
