De Scherpenbergh near Lieren has an 18-hole championship course, the Zwaluwen-Dassenbaan, and a short 9-hole course, the Berkenbaan. Both lie in Veluwe countryside with woodland, water and rolling ground, and the sandy soil keeps them playable almost all year.

De Scherpenbergh lies near Lieren, between Apeldoorn and Eerbeek, on the eastern edge of the Veluwe. It is a golf and business club, and it explicitly caters for business owners who want to combine golf with looking after their contacts.

The courses

The 18-hole Championship Course is called the Zwaluwen-Dassenbaan, par 72 and 5,588 metres from the back tees. There is also a short nine-hole course, the Berkenbaan. Both lie in Veluwe countryside, with woodland, water hazards and rolling ground, and because they are built on sand they stay playable almost all year. The course has changed in several places in recent years, so members recalculated the stroke index of every hole to match how hard each one really plays. Whether buggies may go out is agreed with the greenkeepers each day.

Playing and the club

The practice facilities are extensive. One notable initiative is De Golfladies, started in 2014 to make regular golf easier for women: there are no entry requirements, only the rule that it is for women. Green fee players book a tee time by phone.
