Golf Club Havelte lies in south-west Drenthe, between the villages of Havelte and Uffelte. To the west is the Holtingerveld heath, where sheep graze and a few prehistoric dolmens lie within walking distance. To the east is the Uffelter Binnenveld, and the Uffelterzand sands enclose the course to the north and east.
The course
The golf course architect Michiel van der Vaart designed the 18 holes, par 73 and 6,363 metres from the back tees. The Uffelterzand brings changes in elevation, and the course offers plenty of space and variety. In reviews, visitors mostly praise the quick greens, the upkeep and the friendly welcome. The head greenkeeper inspects the course early every morning, all year round, and decides whether summer or winter greens are in play.
As a visitor
Green fee players with a valid federation card are welcome and can book up to a week ahead; a group's combined handicap may not exceed 108. There are packages with lunch or a packed lunch on the course and drinks afterwards, or with coffee and the local Drenthe bread beforehand and a three-course dinner. At weekends reception is staffed by volunteers and has limited hours. After your round there is Hole 19.
