Montenmedio is an 18-hole woodland course without housing along its fairways, routed through gently rolling dehesa between cork oaks, pines and wild olives. Alejandro Maldonado's par-72 design opened in 1996.

Montenmedio is separated from many courses on the Spanish coast by what has not been built around it. Its 18 holes run through open countryside outside Vejer de la Frontera, without housing along the fairways. Cork oaks, pines and wild olives shape the landscape, while the higher points open views towards the white villages, the marshes of the Barbate nature reserve and, in clear weather, the African coast.

Through the dehesa

Alejandro Maldonado designed the course, which opened in 1996. It follows gently rolling ground between mature trees rather than forcing a geometric route onto the estate. The outward nine plays to par 37 and the inward nine to par 35, making a par of 72. From the back tees the scorecard measures 6,260 metres; the other measured sets run from 5,868 down to 5,214 metres.

The setting is part of the course's identity. The club highlights deer, rabbits, geese and northern bald ibis on the estate, with no buildings interrupting the round. Practice facilities listed by the Spanish Golf Federation include a driving range, putting and pitching areas and a practice bunker. Buggies, trolleys and clubs are available to hire.

Visiting Campo de Golf Dehesa Montenmedio

Visitors can reserve a tee time through the club's online booking system. When checked on 3 November 2026, selected November tee times were offered at €60 for 18 holes against a listed rack rate of €100; the live price depends on the date and time.

Every player must hold a valid golf federation licence and report to the golf reception in the hotel before going to the first tee. The club does not admit non-playing companions or pets onto the course. Golf shoes without metal spikes are required, and the published dress rules exclude jeans, tracksuits, swimwear and collarless or sleeveless tops for men.
