The Koninklijke Haagsche Golf & Country Club, known as the Old Lady, was founded in 1893. When the club lost the use of its course at Waalsdorp in The Hague after the Second World War, it bought its current course in Wassenaar in 1947.
A dune course in Meijendel
The 18-hole course was laid out in 1938 for Daniël Wolf Jzn. in the Meijendel dunes, to a design by the firm of Colt, Alison & Morrison. The rolling dune landscape was kept intact during construction, so course and dunes form one natural whole. Every hole offers a different view and a new challenge, with changes in elevation, blind shots and wind off the nearby coast. The course is par 72 and is maintained sustainably, with care for the rare dune habitat. The Haagsche is regarded as one of the finest courses in continental Europe.
