De Turfvaert near Rijsbergen, close to Breda, is an 18-hole inland links modelled on the classic British courses. Designer Frank Pont builds on the tradition of architects such as Harry Colt, Tom Simpson and Alister MacKenzie.

Golfpark De Turfvaert lies near Rijsbergen, between Breda and Antwerp, on the estate of the same name. Both are named after the old waterway of 1619 that once carried peat and still winds past the park.

An inland links

De Turfvaert is an 18-hole inland links, par 70 and 5,683 metres, built on the strategy and playing character of the classic British courses. The designer, Frank Pont, works in the tradition of architects such as Harry Colt, Tom Simpson and Alister MacKenzie, who in the early twentieth century put natural, strategic design first. Wide views, rolling firm fairways, treacherous rough, rugged bunkers and British-style greens are its hallmarks, and few Dutch courses are built this way. The club calls links golf the ultimate test for the keen golfer, but says this course is kind to beginners too.

Around the course

The brasserie, reception and changing rooms are in a former farmhouse from 1956. The driving range is about 225 metres long and 80 metres wide, with 20 bays, 13 of them covered. The golf academy uses a golf passport: within five lessons you are out on the course, and after fifteen you are ready for the full course permit. There are 9- and 18-hole packages with lunch or dinner.
